The Big Sing Rules

The Big Sing is open to primary schools located within Brackenwood’s service areas.

Schools must apply online at https://brackenwood.com/bigsing by completing the registration form and uploading a video of their performance of a Christmas song track.

All submitted videos will be published for a public online vote. The twelve entries with the highest number of public votes combined with the Brackenwood judging panel decision will progress to the final stage.

From these twelve finalists, the Brackenwood judging panel will select one overall winner.

Prize Fund:

1st place: £1,500
2nd place: £750
3rd place: £500
4th–12th place: £250 each

The winning school will also be required to record a performance of the new Brackenwood soundtrack, which may be used by Brackenwood for promotional purposes, including radio, television, and digital advertising.

All registrations and uploads must be completed before the deadline, which will be announced on the competition landing page.

Terms and Conditions

    1 - Eligibility

    • Open only to primary schools located within Brackenwood’s service areas (see definition below).
    • Each school may submit one entry.

    2 - Entry Requirements

    • Schools must register and upload a video entry at https://brackenwood.com/bigsing.
    • The entry video must feature the school's performance of a Christmas song track.
    • Entries that do not meet this requirement will not be considered.

    3 - Consent & Safeguarding

    • All pupils featured in the video must have written consent from a parent or legal guardian.
    • Schools are solely responsible for collecting, storing, and retaining consent forms.
    • By submitting an entry, schools confirm that the necessary consents have been obtained. Brackenwood accepts no liability for missing or invalid consents.

    4 - Use of Recordings

    • By entering, schools grant Brackenwood the right to use their uploaded video (including audio, images, and footage) for promotional and marketing purposes, in perpetuity.
    • This includes, but is not limited to, use on websites, online platforms, social media, printed materials, radio, and television.
    • The winning school will also be required to record the new Brackenwood soundtrack, which Brackenwood may use in radio, television, and digital advertising.

    5 - Voting & Judging

    • All submitted entries will be published online for a public vote.
    • The twelve entries with the highest number of valid public votes combined with the Brackenwood judging panel decision will proceed to the final stage.
    • The Brackenwood judging panel will select the overall winning school from those twelve finalists.
    • Brackenwood reserves the right to moderate or remove votes where fraudulent or suspicious activity is suspected.
    • The panel’s decision is final and binding.

    6 - Prizes

    • Prize money must be spent for the benefit of pupils, for example, on music, enrichment, or pupil development activities.
    • No cash alternatives are available.

    7 - Data Protection

    • Brackenwood will process and store any personal data in compliance with UK GDPR.
    • By entering, schools confirm that parental consent has been obtained for the collection and use of pupils’ images and voices.
    • Schools remain the data controller in respect of parental consents; Brackenwood acts as data processor only in relation to recordings.

    8 - General

    • Brackenwood reserves the right to withdraw or amend the competition if circumstances make it unavoidable.
    • By entering, schools confirm acceptance of these terms and conditions in full.
